H&M Sales Return to Pre-Pandemic Levels

It’s good news for H&M - and the fashion industry as a whole! The Swedish store reported on Wednesday that an increase in sales from the months of September through to November was in line with expectations, and matched pre-pandemic levels from 2019.

They reported that the net sales of the fourth quarter rose by 8% to £4.69 billion, and measured in local currencies, sales increased by 11%.

“Despite the implemented restrictions over the past year, and the consequences of the global pandemic, the H&M group’s strong recovery continues and it’s evident that customers are showing they like the new collections and the fact they can shop when, where and how they want.”

- the company said in a statement

Currently, H&M group has closed 115 stores temporarily, mainly in Austria and Slovakia, due to COVID-19 restrictions, and the company has also closed 100 stores in South-East Asia temporarily at the beginning of the quarter too.

A full-year report will be issued on 28 January 2022.

Even though coronavirus restrictions are still in place across the globe, it’s positive news to hear that retail stores and the big brands we love are recovering and sales are returning to pre-pandemic levels. If you have enjoyed this blog, why not read our blog on ‘Is 2010s Style Coming Back?’?
