Job Description
Our client is a family run textile business which has been in operation since 1860. They are now seeking a creative narrow fabric weaving technician.
Weaving Development Technician - the role:
• You will be responsible for the development of new webbing designs to customer requirements / new standards
• Create weaving specifications, which maximize efficiency
• Prepare looms for weave trials
• Weave trial lengths and amend loom as necessary
• Breakdown webs, test & specify product
• Control of development specification files
• You will also be responsible for ensuring the physical testing of production webs
• Assistance with alterations of production looms as necessary
• Stock control duties
Weaving Development Technician - the candidate:
• Some knowledge of general weaving loom operation is essential, narrow fabric weaving knowledge is beneficial
• Knowledge of standard and novel yarns would be beneficial
• You must have an understanding of performance and application of different fibres and yarns
• Understanding of various weaving patterns and styles is also beneficial
• Ideally you will have general knowledge of fabric testing procedures
• Scotweave knowledge/experience
• Self motivated
• Have an eye for detail and an attitude to obtain perfection
• Can work independently as well as with teams of various disciplines
• Able to work to deadlines and think out of the box
• Confident to be customer facing, presenting, etc
• Excel literate, with a good grasp of other Microsoft packages
