Career Change to the Fashion Industry

It’s important to understand that you don’t just have to have one career in your lifetime. Many people find their true career desires by disliking the job they currently have, and some people build the courage later in life to retrain and make the change. If you are one of those people wanting to join the fashion industry, carry on reading, this blog will give you important pointers on what to do next.

Things to take into consideration:

Money

Even with your current skills and positive reputation, starting in a fresh industry can mean starting at the bottom of the food chain. This means less money and less responsibility.

However, even if this is a scary thought, think about job satisfaction! If you are miserable in your current position, entering a new industry in a different position for something you're passionate about could change your whole perspective and well-being.

What do you want to do?

Have you got any skills from your current job that transfer over?

If so, draw attention to them, put them on your CV and mention them in your cover letter. This will make the recruiter know, although you’re starting out fresh, you still have some relevant skills under your belt!

Take courses

If you find yourself to be unsure of the positions you’re going to be applying for, why not take a short course to gain knowledge of whether you’ll be suited to this role? You don't need a bachelor’s degree to have a basis of knowledge to enter the industry.
