Just like with a lot of industry careers, to have a successful career in fashion you need to have the right knowledge and skills set and one way to ensure you have this is with a bachelors’ degree in art or fashion. If you’re not going to start your own business, many employers will look for a degree to gage your experience in the industry. 2. Think about your niche.

It’s important that you stand out as a professional and this is where you will find your niche and build your identity in the fashion industry. In fashion, it’s better to be focused and developed on a single niche than to be a jack of all trades. That is, you’ll be better recognised if you do a single thing well, rather than try to please all audiences by designing or creating many products.

3. Don't forget to network.

It’s recommended that if you’re new into fashion you use all opportunities and platforms to create networks with fashion companies, suppliers, and designers.
