This blog will give you our best fashion job interview tips to help you stand out and get the job.

How should I prepare?

You’ve secured the interview and you now have the daunting thought of how you should prepare; the more prepared you are, the easier you should find the interview! It will also help your nerves knowing that you’re thoroughly prepared and organised.

Firstly, you should research the brand, from its ethos and brand values to the work it’s done, this knowledge will impress them and show them how interested you are. Similarly, you could also research whoever will be interviewing you on a platform like Linkedin. This should have plenty of relevant information about them that you can use to your advantage during the interview.

You should also fully understand the job role and description, this will help you tailor your answers to the qualities and experience that they are looking for, helping to ensure that you are ticking their boxes. Furthermore, always make sure you mention exactly what you want them to know, from specific experience to courses, an interview is a time to show yourself off.

Although this might sound obvious, prepare answers for all of the questions they are likely to ask, such as why you want the role, why you would be a great fit, and your experience. Always try and link these questions back to scenarios you’ve experienced in the past. Another good idea would be to prepare a few questions to ask them, you will normally be asked if you have any questions towards the end of the interview. Make these questions specific for the role or department, it will make you look interested and well-researched, qualities that they are looking for.

You need to be appropriately dressed, matching the brand’s style and ethos, and make sure that you will be comfortable! Bring any appropriate documents that they might have asked for in advance, and a copy of your CV is always useful! Also, turn up with plenty of time, turning up late is not a good look and will only add to your nerves.

How should I act during the interview?

So you’ve thoroughly prepared and you’re now sitting in the interview and are wondering how you should act. Firstly, don’t be shy and if you are, try and act confidently, you deserve to be in this interview! Try to ensure your answers are as detailed as possible and make eye contact throughout, even if it does feel a little daunting.

Also, make sure that you know what happens next in the process, such as when you’ll hear back and if there are any more stages like more interviews or trial days. Remember to always thank them for their time, manners are impressive!
