This Week’s Best Global Fashion News

08 July 2022

From Diet Coke employing a new Creative Director, to Louis Vuitton having Cate Blanchett on the team, Barbie creating another Bowie doll and Gucci branching out to pets, this blog will explain the best and most interesting global fashion news happening this week.

Creative Director of Diet Coke

British icon Kate Moss has just been announced as Diet Coke’s new Creative Director as the famous beverage company honours its 40th birthday. Kate has said that she is thrilled to be involved, with her first campaign being called ‘Love What You Love’. Coca-Cola’s Integrated Experience Director for Europe, Michael Willeke has said that they are honoured to have Kate as part of the team.

Whilst this is a new project for Kate and might seem like a slightly unusual one, Coke has had several fashion icons working with them as Creative Directors in the past like Marc Jacobs. As the Creative Director Kate will be involved in a variety of Diet Coke projects, like events and campaigns. We look forward to seeing how her work comes to life.

Bowie Barbie Doll

As it approaches the 50th anniversary of Hunky Dory, music legend David Bowie’s fourth studio album, Barbie is releasing another iconic doll, which costs $50 and features Bowie with his bright red hair, baby blue suit and matching eye makeup, with pink and blue nails and brown and yellow shoes.

Barbie has previously released a Bowie-inspired doll, which had a great reception and had the doll wearing his well-known red boots. Will this new doll sell out?

Louis Vuitton has a New Face

Cake Blanchett has just been announced as the new face of Louis Vuitton. She has described Louis Vuitton as a brand with tremendous cultural reach and Vuitton’s CEO Michael Burke has spoken about how her work transcends trends. Blanchett’s work for the brand will focus on the Spirit jewellery range and its campaign. This partnership will see her in themes of Grace, Destiny, Liberty, Fantasy and Radiance. We can’t wait to see it!

Gucci’s Pet Line

Gucci is branching out and is taking on the industry of pets. The collection will have a sustainability focus and will consist of pet essentials, think collars and coats. The range will of course be premium with prices going up to $7,500! Would your pets be trustworthy enough?
