Job Description
Our client is a well established supplier of licensed products, with a unique portfolio of diverse and industry-leading fashion, sports, and outdoor brands across childrenswear, adults clothing, accessories and footwear. They are currently seeking a Garment Technologist with considerable experience in good quality womens casualwear.
Garment Technologist - Womens - The Role:
- Reporting to the Technical & Quality Director, you will be responsible for all womenswear lines across all brands.
- Oversee garment fit construction, grading, fabric performance and testing requirements across the category.
- Work closely with the design teams and brands to ensure products are fit for production and factories have all comments and additional information necessary to deliver quality product.
- Lead fit sessions and provide clear technical guidance to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Accurately update and maintain technical workbooks, incorporating styling and measurement amendments with clear manufacturing instructions.
- Ensure all products meet brand standards, licensing requirements, and retailer specifications.
- Identify potential quality and production risks early in the development process and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve technical and quality issues efficiently.
- Drive right-first-time development to reduce sampling iterations, duplication, and development lead times.
- Own the technical critical path for allocated styles, ensuring approvals are achieved within agreed timelines.
- Ensure compliance with UK, EU, and international regulations, including chemical, safety, and labelling requirements.
- Support the implementation of technical manuals, fit standards, and SOPs.
- Work closely with offshore suppliers to drive consistency, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
- Support sourcing and production teams in the UK and offshore offices with technical expertise.
- Contribute to supplier capability assessments and performance discussions.
- Collaborate effectively with Buying, Design, and Merchandising teams to ensure aligned product outcomes
Garment Technologist - Womens - The Candidate:
- Highly experienced Garment Technologist with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Very knowledgeable regarding technical product construction and legislation including fabrics, textile technology and clothing production processes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of grading, fitting and pattern adjustments.
- Confident computer skills including Excel based workbooks. A background in high quality women’s wear.
- Proactive, a strong team player and happy to work with a team, moving across tasks when the business needs require it.
- Excellent attention to detail at all times.
- Super organised with excellent time management skills to ensure company deadlines are prioritised, monitored and met.
