Job Description
Our client is a privately-owned fashion business with two brands focused on creating unique and beautiful clothes, exclusively in natural fibres, with strong sustainability values. The design and marketing is done by a small talented team collaborating in their London design studio. This is an opportunity for a motivated, creative individual seeking to establish themselves as a valued member of a team in a successful growing business
Woven Textile Designer - The Role:
- The role combines design and product development - requiring someone who is both creative and organised.
- Working as part of a close-knit team of designers and product developers to design, develop and realise each seasonal collection.
- Artwork specs for tech packs
- Regularly liaising with suppliers to develop new weaves, recolour yarn dyed fabrics, and manage samples and bulk swatches
- Responsible for colour development within the range, including seasonal palettes, lab-dips, woven handlooms and knit-downs
- Trim allocation and development
- Assisting with planning and styling for the photo-shoots
- Working with reprographics to help colour-match the images
Woven Textile Designer - The Candidate:
- A degree in Textile Design or related field, ideally specialised in weave
- Experience in weave software, such as Pointcarre, would be beneficial.
- Photoshop skills are essential for this role. Illustrator and InDesign would be useful.
- Strong eye and confidence using colour
- Knowledge of fabrics and textile techniques
- Highly organised individual that can act with initiative
- Strong ability to articulate ideas
