Job Description

Our client is a leading supplier of innovative product development, design, and sampling for premium lingerie, activewear, sleepwear, and lounge categories. They collaborate closely with top UK high-street brands, focusing on delivering high-quality, trend-forward products. They are now seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Fabric Technology Intern or Junior Technologist, working closely with their design team, RM suppliers, and global technical partners.  This is a full-time, hands-on role ideal for a fabric enthusiast who is eager to build a career in textile and fabric development. The successful candidate will support the design team by ensuring fabric selection aligns with seasonal trends and performance requirements, while also managing supplier communications, technical assessments, and lab work coordination.

Assistant/Junior Fabric Technologist - the role:

  • Work closely with the design team to understand seasonal fabric requirements.
  • Liaise with raw material (RM) suppliers to source and develop fabrics aligned with design briefs.
  • Coordinate the timely delivery of fabric swatches, headers, and hangers to the UK studio.
  • Maintain fabric libraries and ensure all information is accurately logged.
  • Manage and follow up on lab dips, strike-offs, and bulk fabric testing.
  • Assist in performing or coordinating fabric performance assessments
  • Support the offshore technical team in pre-production fabric risk assessments.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve any fabric issues or rejections.
  • Be actively involved in customer meetings, contributing to discussions around fabric suitability and performance.
  • Collaborate with design, merchandising, and technical teams to ensure fabric choices meet both aesthetic and functional expectations.
  • Facilitate smooth communication between UK and offshore technical teams regarding fabric development status and timelines.
  • Set up and maintain fabric development trackers and create and update fabric specification sheets.
  • Support the setup of customer-facing hanger presentations and technical documentation.

Assistant/Junior Fabric Technologist - the candidate:

  • A degree or diploma in Textile Technology, Fashion Textiles, or a related field.
  • Internship or up to 1 year of relevant experience preferred (for Junior role).
  • Strong knowledge of fabric types, constructions, finishes, and performance standards.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic Adobe tools (Illustrator/Photoshop is a plus).
