Job Description

Our client designs, manufactures and supplies a variety of high performing technical textiles for a range of high performance markets. The company supplies advanced materials to industries such as Aerospace, Military, Medical, Composites and Automotive. Clients from these various industries have trusted their fabrics to help them manufacture their products for several years. They are now seeking an experienced Knitter to take responsibility for their weft knitting machines in Leicestershire. 

Knitter - The Role: 

  • Monitoring fabric quality throughout the knitting process, checking for faults, marks or any inconsistencies.
  • Repairing yarn faults, replacing any broken elements and addressing any minor machine issues.
  • Threading and changing bobbins as required to maintain continuous production.
  • Assisting with quality changes, including changes of pattern and machine adjustments.
  • Taking completed fabric rolls off the machine ready for the next process.
  • Adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
  • Ensuring the workplace is left safe and tidy.
  • Any other reasonable request of the Factory Manager or Operations Director.   

Knitter - The Candidate:

  • General standard of education both numeracy and literacy.
  • Previous knowledge and experience of weft knitting machines, especially double jersey would be advantageous, and some mechanical knowledge.
  • Needs to be a diligent self-starting individual. Requires patience, concentration and attention to detail.
  • Be professional and give confidence in the event a customer, supplier or auditor visit.
  • Must be mindful of the need for continuous improvement to identify and notify management of any processes or areas of the production of fabric that may require improvements.
  • Committed to achieving the smooth running and efficiency of the production areas.


Knitter - The Package:

  • A full-time role (40hrs P/W) with salary negotiable dependant on experience levels held. Willing to work a 2-shift system (6am-2pm and 10am-6pm) with longer hours sometimes needed based on overtime requirements.
