Job Description

Our client designs, manufactures and supplies a variety of high performing technical textiles for a range of high performance markets. The company supplies advanced materials to industries such as Aerospace, Military, Medical, Composites and Automotive. Clients from these various industries have trusted their fabrics to help them manufacture their products for several years. They are now seeking an experienced Knitter to take responsibility for both warp knitting in Derbyshire and weft knitting in Leicestershire. 

Knitter - The Role: 
 To run warp and weft knitting machines producing greige fabric, duties include:
•    Repeatedly checking the fabric for any faults or dirt/oil marks whilst knitting.
•    Repairing damages in the yarn and replacing broken needles.
•    Taking pieces of fabric off the machines when finished for processing.
•    Adhering to all health and safety guidelines
•    Taking delivery of yarns and fabrics into a warehouse for sorting, stacking and storage.
•    Assisting with loading and unloading of warp knitting machines.
•    Ensuring the place of work is left safe and tidy.
•    Any other reasonable request of the Factory Manager or Operations Director.   

Knitter - The Candidate:

•   General standard of education both numeracy and literacy.
•   Previous knowledge and experience of warp and weft knitting machines would be advantageous, and experience of working as part of team. Should be able to demonstrate a diligent and committed approach to work
•   Strong communication skills and a proven ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
•   Needs to be a diligent self-starting individual. Requires patience, concentration and attention to detail.
•   Demonstrates a professional approach to the role and attention to detail.
•   Be professional and give confidence in the event a customer, supplier or auditor visit.
•   Must be mindful of the need for continuous improvement to identify and notify management of any processes or areas of the production of fabric that may require improvements.
•   Committed to achieving the smooth running and efficiency of the production areas.
